Kibbutz Nahal Oz in the Negev desert a part of the "Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council" was founded in 1951. Nahal Oz was the first ever "Ha'ahzut Nahal" (Nahal settlements). Since it was founded, Nahal Oz suffered from terror attacks coming across the border. Today, about 100 families live in Nahal Oz.
